For the event, the Albany Club sets up the dining room in the “Formal Hall” style.  Prior to the dinner, we show the official video of the race while we enjoy cocktails in the club’s lounge.  During the Roll Call of the Colleges, each graduate has the opportunity to stand when his or college is called out and recognize his/her fellow members. We ask the oldest and the youngest graduate to share a favourite memory of their time in Cambridge. For more information on the Albany Club visit www.albanyclub.ca

Andy Orchard

Andy Orchard was recently appointed Provost of Trinity College, University of Toronto, after six years as Director of the University’s Centre for Medieval Studies, while concurrently acting as Trinity’s stentorian Public Orator, which post demanded he addressed the annual convocation in Latin. As well as being a rugby enthusiast, he is a recognized expert in teratology (the study of monsters). Two of his better known books are “A Critical Companion to Beowulf”, and “Pride and Prodigies”. Andy is an accomplished presenter on radio and television. His lengthy and august, albeit sometimes chequered association with Cambridge included challenging his director of studies “I don’t want to be simply interested, I want to be inspired”. We are sure his Toast will do both.

Laurel ten Pas

Laurel ten Pas completed her graduate degree in Land Economics at Cambridge, after receiving a political science degree from the University of Toronto. Having previously worked as an infrastructure and real property investment consultant in Toronto, she is now a member of the application consulting division at Oracle Corporation. Memories and friends from her time at Cambridge remain strong and have resulted in a number of return visits in an attempt to re-live her wonderful experience - these attempts have focused mainly on the diversionary “pressures” that presented themselves during her studies. Laurel, a loyal member of the Toronto Cambridge eight, has also had the opportunity to travel to a number of places throughout the world and continues to be amazed at Cambridge’s far-reaching reputation and ability to connect people.
