The 2nd Annual Oxford vs Cambridge Boat Race was rowed on Sunday September 16th under brilliant late summer sunshine at the Argonaut Rowing Club.  After a little “messing about on the river” it was down to business with 2 races featuring coxed fours.  Oxford won one by a significant margin but the other was really close, though the dark blues managed to pass the finish line a little ahead of the light blues. After some re-tooling (or should that be re-boating??) we were ready for the major event, the race of the eight’s.

The race was very close, but Oxford again pulled ahead just before the finish line.

The Oxford crew included at least one man who has rowed in recent memory in the Isis boat and several others who looked as though they were still rowing for the University.  Our crew was very enthusiastic and is already starting to prepare under Daniel Kaute’s leadership

for the re-match on September 14 2008.

We thank Judy Sutcliffe from Cambridge and Raegan Bunker from Oxford for organizing the crews, Barbara Selley and Maggie Norman for providing the refreshments and the Argonaut Rowing Club for their support of this event.

See you in 2008 for a most relaxing afternoon.  Sunshine almost guaranteed.
